FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Global Real Estate Index
On February 21, 2005, FTSE, the global index provider, took over the calculations of the EPRA/NAREIT Global Real Estate Index, which will be renamed the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Global Real Estate Index. Designed to track the performance of listed real estate companies and REITs worldwide, the series acts as a performance measure of the overall market and is also suitable for use as the basis for investment products such as derivatives and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
The rules for the indices have changed to adjust to the current FTSE guidelines. Major changes include:
- Adoption of FTSE free float definitions and bands
- Industry classification will now follow the FTSE/Dow Jones Industry Classification Benchmark
