In October, Ernst & Young released its "2007 Global REIT Report," building on its inaugural 2006 report. The report covers 15 countries where established REIT listed markets are in operation, as well as recent developments in the German and U.K. REIT markets. The report provides REIT performance information for these markets, including total return, volume of trade, volatility, income yield and balance sheet gearing. Additionally, the study provides an in-depth commentary on REIT markets around the globe from Ernst & Young's REIT practitioners.

The report also offers a case study review of different accounting standards around the world; a summary of significant tax legislation and regulations highlighting all changes since last year; a property subsector split for all 15 countries; and a yield spread analysis ranking the performance of REIT regimes in those countries based on positive yield spread versus local debt rates.
